5 Applications for any Eco-Conscious User
COVID has cornered us into staying in our own homes, some lost jobs, and those who lost motivation.
What if I tell you that there are ways to help Mother Nature by being productive and browsing on the internet?
Did you know? That you can:
- Plant trees every time you search on the web
- Keeping tabs open help poverty and climate change
- Using a task timer and within that frame, a sapling is being planted
- Our Ocean is being cleaned, reforested, and going more green for using this search engine
- Giving clean water who have rarely have access
These are all my personal research and I do not receive any profit from any of these organizations. I am inspired by their dedication to keeping the Earth greener even in our digital nomad life.
They’re arranged in which I found first and I’ll be sharing it with you guys!
I found out about Ecosia from a friend of mine in college, and I’ve downloaded the app on my android phone ever since. December 2009, the organization was born.
The founder’s name is Christian Kroll, and they’re currently based in Germany, Berlin.
Ecosia is a search engine that cleans out our polluted air. In other words, plant more trees. You only need to search on the web! ( In your daily digital life you need around 45 searches to plant a tree )
They have a browser application good for both Android and Apple users. If you want to “research”, try using this search engine, not only you’re gaining more “knowledge”. You are also helping to regrow trees where it’s needed the most.
Does Ecosia have more to offer? Heck yeah!
For all the people out there who love keeping tabs open and love opening more, this web extension is for you!
NOW THIS IS RECENT, THIS IS JUNE 2021
I found out about OpenTabs when was scrolling through Tiktok. I ended up on this content creator sharing about them. And the next morning, I drank water, opened my laptop, and installed OpenTabs on my browser.
As a person who opens more than 20+ tabs a day. I knew my forgetting-to-close-my-tabs skill is finally helping. (R.I.P RAM Memory)
This extension converts the number of times you open a tab, and you need around 10 to plant a tree! It’s brand new, and it’s still upgrading.
To all the humans out there who want to focus on doing one thing and not get distracted. This phone app & web extension works well with me, hope it also helps you. Not only you’re getting something done, but you’re also planting a Tree while getting it done.
One of the perks of this, cross-platforming! Whatever you’ve done in your browser, will update your phone. But to sync the devices, you have to have a Pro Account.
I ended up buying the app because… “YOU ONLY NEED TO BUY IT ONCE,” There’s no monthly subscription, and I even end up buying it 5% off!
The price was pretty ok, to begin with, and now whenever I do something for example:
- watching YouTube (audiobook, courses, learning an application)
- studying an online course (Coursera, Linkedin learning)
- doing homework
- Brainstorming with friends
- playing a video game
- doing side hustle or work (design, analyze, edit media)
Yes, there’s more but this one is almost the same as “Ecosia” but this one involves the ocean~
Ekoru is also a search engine, but every time you search;
- ocean reforestation — replanting ocean grass
- cleans the ocean — plastic, trash getting taken out
- GREEN SEARCHES — powered by hydroelectricity
Another friend of mine opened up their concern about the ocean, but they don’t have the time or money. They want to help the non-profit organization, not just sharing on social media.
I found this amazing search engine, available on both desktop, Android, and Apple. (but I don’t have Apple, so please try it out!). I know the app will get better and will improve. We need to be more aware of it and active on it, let’s support the developers and help our ocean!
Can I please tell you to visit their site, because the sea creatures are adorable, and the website design is so cool! I found out about this site today! July 3, 2021.
Collecting clam shells reminds me of the animated movie “Little Mermaid” and “Moana”. These princesses love their ocean
During summer vacation my family would visit the beach, every year. But now we aren’t because of COVID but soon when everything is back to normal.
Let’s save our Mother Earth in little and many ways as we can, Thank you for reading!
